Reed Leads Huskies Past Clarion
Box Score Game One
Box Score Game Two
BLOOMSBURG-- Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport) went a combined 4-6 with three triples, drove in six runs and pitched a complete game shutout to lead the Bloomsburg University softball team to a sweep of Clarion on Tuesday in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Central Division action.
In game one, Reed went 2-3 with two RBI and scored two runs, while Casey Massimini (Downingtown/Downingtown West) was 3-3 with three RBI to back the two-hit pitching of Shavaun Fisher (Coplay/Allentown Central Catholic) as the Huskies won 10-0. Bloomsburg got Fisher all the support she would need in the first when they scored seven times on eight hits. Fisher took a no-hitter into the fifth inning, but gave up two hits, but did hang on to the shutout.
In game two, Reed had two, two-run triples, while Mandy Koch (Dauphin/Central Dauphin) had a run scoring triple as the Huskies broke open a close game with a seven-run fourth inning. Reed was dominant in the circle striking out nine and not walking a batter. She allowed just two hits and retired the final batters she faced. Lori Neyhard (Bloomsburg/Central Columbia) finished the game 3-3 with a run scored.
The Huskies go to 13-3, 2-0 in the PSAC Central, while Clarion falls to 2-13, 0-2 in the PSAC Central. Bloomsburg plays at IUP on Friday at 2:30 p.m.
